In a backstage corridor, a grey-suited reporter (played by Frank X. Mur, improvising his own dialogue and sporting his trademark pocket handkerchief and lapel flower—here a white carnation) asks martial artist Lee Kwok Lap (played by Jet Li), "Do you like America?" and "Mr. Lee, do you play chess?" (The word order of the latter question's subtitle is reversed: "Do you play chess, Mr. Lee?)
In 1968, at the Oakland (California ) Induction Center, the Army Major (played by Frank X. Mur) gets a big wet one from "draftee" Sandy Szabo (played by Robert Locke).
